Yes, the hernia was very real. Dr Hruska almost laughed when she saw the “protrusion”. Apparently they are not all quite that obvious.
So now I have an appointment on Friday the 13th to get it fixed. Dr. Hruska says that she does a dual mesh for athletes, one inside and one outside which she joins together. Looks like two weeks of down time then can start to build back up with the running. Amazing that recovery time are so short now.
So I’ve been a little under from allergies as this spring is causing everything to grow like crazy. As you can see that includes the garden. I’ve already sampled the parsley and cilantro. Looks to me like the lettuce is really close to being ready and the kale is really taking off too.
Last week I decide the simple chicken wire cover wasn’t really easy to lift so I add a PVC frame which I just did a zip tie retrofit on the existing. Some day I will remove the wood and just have the PVC.
So went through 5 sessions of MAT and it really did undo an amazing amount of muscle issues that I had been experiencing. However it also revealed a root cause that I have to address now. I have a hernia that has gone from novel to sharply painful at times. I can feel myself constrained in some movements trying to protect from the pain.
Going to see a surgeon on Tuesday to schedule a procedure to get this fixed. This will probably eliminate the half marathon and definitely the trip to Haiti this spring.
So I was inspired to take the plunge this year and give urban gardening a try. A weekend of good old fashioned labor constructed two 4×4 boxes. I’m going to consult Sprout Robot this week to figure out what my spring crops should be.
